en General Nursing General Nursing پژوهشی اصيل Original Research <span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="unicode-bidi:embed"><span style="line-height:107%"><span sans-serif="" style="font-family:Calibri,"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:107%"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">BACKGROUND:</span></span></span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:107%"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times=""> Hemodialysis is one of the primary treatment modalities for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). One approach to alleviating the psychological and emotional challenges experienced by these patients is the implementation of self-care interventions, which can be delivered through various methods, including short message service (SMS) and face-to-face education. Therefore, this study was conducted to compare the effects of SMS-based and face-to-face self-care education on coping styles in patients undergoing hemodialysis.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span><br> <span style="font-size:12pt"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times=""><b>MATERIALS AND METHODS:</b> This clinical trial was conducted at Yasuj in Iran, 80 eligible patients undergoing hemodialysis were recruited through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to either the SMS-based education group or the face-to-face education group using block randomization. Data were collected using the Jalowiec Coping Scale (JCS) before the intervention and one month after its completion. The intervention was delivered over a two-month period. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 21. The chi-square test, independent-samples t-test, and paired-samples t-test were used. P value <0.05 was considered statistically significant.</span></span><br> <span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="unicode-bidi:embed"><span style="line-height:107%"><span sans-serif="" style="font-family:Calibri,"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:107%"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">RESULTS</span></span></span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:107%"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">: One month after the intervention, a statistically significant difference was observed between the SMS-based education and face-to-face education groups in the mean score of the supportive coping subscale (P < 0.05).</span></span></span></span></span></span></span><br> <span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="unicode-bidi:embed"><span style="line-height:107%"><span sans-serif="" style="font-family:Calibri,"><b><span style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="line-height:107%"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">CONCLUSION</span></span></span></b><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:107%"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">:</span></span></span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:107%"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times=""> Face-to-face education showed a greater improvement in supportive coping compared with SMS-based education, although both approaches may contribute to enhanced coping among patients undergoing hemodialysis.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span> Self-care,Coping Skills,Hemodialysis Units,Patient Education,Adaptation,Chronic Kidney Disease 1001 1014 http://jccs.yums.ac.ir/browse.php?a_code=A-10-47-5&slc_lang=en&sid=1 M.S.
