Abstract (60 Views)
Introduction: Achieving a treatment plan for faster recovery and pain control in infants with colic has always been considered, however the researcher not found any study about effect of lulaby music on colic pain in infants. Therefore, this study was performed to determine the effect of lulaby music on controlling and reducing pain and calming infantile colic crying.
Materials and Methods: The present study is an semi-experimental intervention. The research population consists of colic patients referred to Shahid Mofteh Clinic No. 1 in Yasuj in 2021. A total of 90 eligible patients were selected by convenience sampling and assigned to intervention and control groups (each group 45 patients with colic) based on a randomized block design. Data were collected using a demographic information form and the FLACC and ABC scales in before, and after four weeks intervention.
In this study, the data were analyzed using SPSS software version 25 and through descriptive statistics and inferential statistics with 95% confidence interval (P <0.05).
Results: At the starting point of the study, there was no significant difference between the groups in terms of pain and intensity of crying and duration of crying (P> 0.05). After the research intervention, a significant decrease was observed in terms of pain (P=0.0001)and intensity of crying (P=0.025) and duration of crying (P =0.001).
Conclusion: lullaby music can be effective on infant colic. Therefore lullaby music can be recommended to mothers and personnel involved in infant care to reduce the pain and crying of infant colic.
